Meditation For Aikidoka - Community Call
November 5, 2016

“Sangha” is a communal space where people organize around the Dharma, universal principles, ultimate realities, and spiritual teachings. It is a space where we put our higher intentions in the center and allow the light of awareness to shine it’s light in all the dark places. It is a WE-SPACE where we come together in greater truth, goodness, and beauty.

It’s impossible to overstate the importance of having a “Sangha,” a spiritual community. It is important in Dharma and meditation traditions, and it’s especially so in Aikido.

The Art Of Peace

The Art of Peace: Teachings of the Founder of Aikido (Shambhala, 1992)

This beautiful little handbook contains the inspirational teachings of Morihei Ueshiba, O’ Sensei himself. Each of its 112 short verses describes O’ Sensei’s perspective of the real way of the spiritual warrior. If you seek to explore the greater meaning of Aikido, and what it means in your life, then this book will give you a deep dive into the enlightened mind of the founder of the art.

Dead-Sea Seminar - Community Call, No.2
October 22, 2016

This past Sunday I hosted the 2nd Dead Sea community call with my teaching partner, Patrick Cassidy. It was a little bittersweet because. Just as it is the last Dead Sea Seminar this year, this was also the last Dead Sea community call.

The topic of this call is “The Future Of Aikido”. Patrick and I explore the limitations of the current Aikido culture and the needs for a shift into a new paradigm. We lay out how we see that shift affecting Aikido for the individual, the community, the teacher-student relationship, organizations, and especially the art itself.

Dead-Sea Seminar - Community Call, No.1
September 26, 2016

Yesterday I hosted the first of 2 Dead Sea community calls, with my teaching partner Patrick Cassidy. We’ve hosted these calls for the past 3 years, both as a warm up for the Dead Sea Seminar (Nov. 17 – 19, 2016) and as a way to invite the global Aikido community to join gather together online for exploring the themes of our yearly event.

The topic of this call is “Returning To The Source”. Patrick and I cover such topics as O Sensei’s original spiritual realization, the source as an expression of Aikido, aligning with the deeper principles returns us to the source, and much more.
